GRAPHIC DESIGN
Graphing & Design California Restaurant Map
This project is a great example of the creative and analytical sides of technical communication coming together. The goal of this project was to present something represented by a percentage or concentration in the form of a map graph, and create an advertisement with the graph. The subject I chose is the concentration of Michelin starred restaurants in California. It required inputting and organizing data and making the graph in Excel and manipulating the visual to show the information that was to be highlighted. Then that graph had to be imported to Word to create the overall design of the ad. This project required many rounds of editing to make sure all elements of the design worked together to create an informative and clear communication.

Halloween Candy Infographic
Infographics are eye-catching, exciting, engaging, and often fun ways of dispersing information on a variety of topics. They can be about more serious safety issues, or about lighthearted topics such as popular Halloween candies. This project really leaned into the creative side of technical communications by researching and creating an infographic. There are so many ways in which information can be displayed that help convey information. Depending on the topic of the graphic, things like font, color, and clip-art elements can be utilized and modified to aid in the communication. It also required the researching of information for the graphic. Once the data was gathered, it was plugged into Canva and Excel to create visually interesting graphs that were then imported into Word to create the final product. As with all things in technical communications, understanding the audience for this infographic is key to knowing what will be effective elements and what won’t. Because a heavy focus on design was required, I modified the infographic repeatedly throughout the development process.
